Born in 1974, Mia Segaert graduated at the University of Mons with a Master in Business Economics. After a 25-year career in Real Estate and finance she made a career switch and followed her heart end 2022.Fascinated by photography and the artistic world since childhood, she studied Photo Art at the Academy of Visual Arts in Brasschaat combined by own practice.                        

Deeply inspired by nature, the ocean in particular, contemporary architecture and intercultural relations, she focuses with her photography on extraordinary landscape phenomena while traveling. Nature is a source of tranquillity, beauty and, above all, knowledge. She observes patterns and forms in detail, often accompanied by movement or incidence of light, and this forms her dialogue with nature. Subconscious impressions are coming through sculptures and architecture in nature. In this way she tries to give a new realism or surrealism, and this by accentuating the aesthetics of our precious blue planet. In this way, she wants to express her emotions and convey a powerful positive message. Her artistic work is based on 3 themes: Altitude, Earth and Ocean, all transient, evolutionary and dynamic.                        

She keeps a daily notebook with quotes that touch her. For the quote that ties in with her photography is this one from Henri Cartier- Bresson ”It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head”.
