Tamara De Prest’s work is rooted in an exploration of identity, temporality, and inner space, and operates at the intersection of painting and conceptual practice. She is trained in drawing and is self-taught in painting, with additional education in photography. Her work is characterized by vulnerability, materiality, and close attention to detail, often taking the form of small-scale, layered images that invite a slow and concentrated way of looking. Her practice also includes spatial work and project-based research, carried out in mixed techniques on paper, photography, and video. Across different media, she explores how images carry traces of memory, presence, and absence, and how narrative elements become embedded in material and form.
