Punctum is a young, independent non-profit organisation in Ghent, that aims to promote contemporary photography. It aims to be an inspiring beacon and a critical signpost in the midst of a seemingly chaotic culture of image and wants to take a look at contemporary appearances of the photographic medium, without losing sight of the rich past. Punctum wants to deliver a cross-section of the evolutions within the discipline that it considers to be relevant or valuable in this moment. With the projects it inpires, Punctum wants to start up a dialogue; it wants to provide a platform for provocative photography and challenge its audience to form new ideas on and insights about the discipline itself.
