Lou Cocody-Valentino is a multidisciplinary visual artist born in Martinique in 1994. After studying Applied Arts at l’Ecole Boulle, Fine Arts at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes, graduating in 2016 from a Visual Arts BA at La Sorbonne, she moved to Brussels where she graduated in 2021 from a Printmaking Masters at La Cambre. She currently lives in Brussels, where she works on her own practice, collaborative endeavors and commissioned scenography projects. Her work is rooted in memories of her upbringing as an islander, in the fragmentation of self she experiences as a multicultural being. Having first studied design and classical printing techniques Lou now experiments with recycled materials outside of the traditional realm ; working with melted plastics, printing on fabrics, painting on wood panels, weaving upcycled yarns, or dyeing and assembling textiles. She has exhibited in Belgium, France, London, the Netherlands, and has taken part in mentoring programs and residencies including FLACC (2021), The Constant Now (2022), and MORPHO (2024).
