Koen Broucke is a visual artist who lives and works in Boechout, near Antwerp. He expresses himself in drawings, paintings, videos, books and installations. His degree in history lies behind his strong interest in documents and research. In the middle of the nineties the series 'Menskunde', in which he applies an anthropological and psychological approach to human portraits, was exhibited in different art institutions and collections. In 1997 he started writing biographies of fictional artists. Broucke has had exhibitions in Rome, Cologne, Pori (Finland), Amsterdam, Paris, Valencia, Antwerp, Ostend, Gent and Brussels. His work can be found in collections of the MuHKA, the Municipal Museum of Sittard and the Flemish Parliament in Brussels.
