Els De Sadeleer studied clarinet and percussion at the local music school August De Boeck and played in the Royal Harmony De Katholieke Gilde from an early age, first with the clarinets, then with the percussion. Her passion for composing started early. Ever since her mother, who teaches piano herself, bought a music notation program, Els also regularly tinkered with it. As the years went by, she became increasingly curious about creating and designing music.

Els graduated from LUCA School of Arts, Campus Lemmens. Here she obtained her Master in Music Pedagogy, Bachelor in Composition and her teaching diploma. During her education she was taught by composer Jeroen D’hoe and Pieter Schuermans.

Hope is the Thing with Feathers, a work for female voices (SSA) is her very first choral work, written for Koor&Stem. The work has since been performed several times by, among others, the women's choir Virinoj.
