The e-Medialab studies and creates optimal interactive experiences that bridge the gap between man and technology. Therefore, the e-Medialab designs and develops interactive and tangible media. The e-Medialab is synonymous to an interdisciplinary approach that forges user-centered research, technological expertise and audiovisual design into immersive experiences with intuitive user interfaces. These applications situate themselves within a multitude of different domains: e.g. digital gaming, software toys, electronic art, edutainment, infotainment, etc.
In her research projects, e-Medialab explores the possibilities that lie beyond the desktop paradigm and traditional graphical user interfaces. This objective is driven by two core concepts, i.e. rich interaction and emotional design.
Rich interaction
All sensitory limitations are thrown out the window as e-Medialab designs interfaces which interact with all human senses. The results are a tangible, intuitive and highly immersive interfaces, leading to rich user experiences.
Emotional design
As the graphical interfaces of old fail to suffice, so does the scope of usability research. Concerning the user reception of rich interaction, e-Medialab not only strives to design user-friendly applications, but also highly enjoyable ones.
To achieve both goals, a design methodology based on participatory and user-centered design is combined with immersive technologies.
