Marc Mestdagh's work subtly explores the relationship between humans and art. The central question he poses is whether we all have a creative identity. This is incorporated visually in the work of the last 3 years through the use of an ID-card shape, connected to its surroundings by a wire or rope. As a symbol of humans in search of creative and artistic meaning. The variations in technique, colour and approach thus inspire new stories. The proximity and materials of the former weaving mill where the artist lives and works are very much present. The visitor gets a layered visual experience, which simultaneously encourages reflection on past and present, on confrontation and connection, on matter and ideas. It is his conviction that art forces people to look and speak differently. Just that dialogue and polyphony lead to a valuable experience and connection.
