Nederlands:Hilde Goossens (Q1590409)
Hilde Goossens (1978, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium) has been painting since childhood. She formalised her artistic education at Sint-Lucas Art School Ghent, graduating with great distinction in 1997.
Based in Sint-Maria-Oudenhove in the Flemish Ardennes, she creates autobiographical works influenced by her daily experiences, contemplative walks, and especially her travels. Though rooted in rural Belgium, her work reflects her yearning for urban environments and southern destinations. Using smartphone photography as her initial inspiration, she first develops these memories in acrylics on paper before transforming them into larger canvas pieces. Her distinctive style emphasizes essential elements while deliberately omitting expected details. Her figurative paintings feature muted colors and subdued tones, creating quiet scenes that distill the essence of fleeting moments. These painted memories serve as personal warmth until her next journey begins.
Notable solo exhibitions include presentations at Zebrastraat (Ghent), Zottegem Public Library, Cultural Center De Meent (Alsemberg), and BCP Art Gallery at Rivoli (Brussels). Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at PMMK (now Muzee) in Ostend, the Textielmuseum in Ghent, Contemporary Art Space in Zottegem, and during NAFT at the city museum of Sint-Niklaas. Her work is included in the growing private collection Merode in Ronse.
