Art centre De Loods was founded in April 2015 and is part of the UPC Duffel, which has long been committed to the relationship between psychiatry and art. De Loods situates itself outside the hospital walls, both physically and figuratively.
De Loods specialises in social-artistic projects with both psychosocial and artistic objectives.
Where possible, we link up with existing art projects in society (Atelier in Beeld, Week of Poetry, etc.). We guide participants towards participation in existing projects within the regular art circuit. We also attach importance to art participation and art education.
Given that contemporary art increasingly manifests itself in pluralism (styles, convictions, etc.), we also choose to include various disciplines: visual art, improvisational theatre, prose and poetry, new media, film and video, etc.
