Pieter was born in a musical family. After discovering his falsetto voice as a choir boy at the age of 10, he started vocal coaching with Pascal Devreese in the Academy of Music in Ronse (BE). At the age of 16, he turned to countertenor Steve Dugardin in Antwerp for further vocal development. Later, when Pieter was studying Comparative Literature at the University of Ghent, he took classes with soprano Hilde Coppé. At the age of 28, Pieter entered the Royal Conservatory Brussels for singing, with Lena Lootens as his vocal and career coach.
As a soloist, Pieter has built up a solid repertoire. He performs soloist roles in Messiah by Handel, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Gloria by Vivaldi and a considerable part of cantatas, motets and oratorios by J.S. Bach. With this he performs on national and international stages. Pieter sings with the orchestras Musica Gloria, Il Gardellino, B'Rock, BachPlus, Apotheosis ... He has been working closely with Beniamino Paganini and Nele Vertommen of ensemble Musica Gloria for several years now. Together they have already completed several successful European tours. In 2020 they recorded music by Vivaldi and Purcell that was well received by the public and in the media. This season they will also perform together on national and international stages and in the recording studio.
In 2023, Pieter will debute in the opera as Farnace in Mozart's Mitridate, Re di Ponte with the Orchestre Royal de Wallonie at the Midsummer Mozartiade Festival in Brussels.
In addition to classical concert life, Pieter is often to be found in the theatre. He sings and plays in productions by Tg Vagevuur, Compagnie Lodewijk/Louis, Walpurgis, Kloppend Hert, Theater Antigone,… He has worked with directors such as Judith Vindevogel, Haider Al Timimi, Piet Arfeuille, etc. His role in We, Drowned that went through Wintervuur, Oerol (NL), Denmark and Theater Aan Zee (Ostend) did not go unnoticed.
Since 2017, Pieter has been a member of Broder, a company for music theater operating in the Brussels-Ghent axis, a group ran by playwright Koen Boesman and composer Peter Spaepen. With performances such as Franzerl, Henry, Babushka, Pieter played in almost all Flemish theaters, cultural centers or at festivals such as Theater Aan Zee, Iedereen Klassiek (Klara @Concertgebouw Brugge), Bijloke Wonderland, etc... The latest performance is called Seaking, about Beethoven and a blind helicopter pilot. Seaking is touring through Flanders this season, with actor Tom Van Landuyt and pianist Elisabeth De Loore at Pieter's side.
