Maison Particulière is a nonprofit art center conceived by an art-collecting couple, Myriam and Amaury de Solages. Ever since it opened in April 2011, the art center has presented works of art from private collections. These artworks, often hidden from public view, are brought to light in a private residence that is open to the public.
There is no permanent collection at Maison Particulière, but three times a year, four collectors, one artist, and one literary guest are invited to present an exhibit based on a given theme of reflection.
The guest collectors select ten to twelve works that they wish to exhibit from their private collection. This is a highly personal approach that allows each collector to express an individual point of view while striking a balance among the works from various collections with varying sensibilities.
Contemporary art is not the sole guest at Maison Particulière. Antiquities, ceramics, archeological pieces, and primitive art all find their place side by side with contemporary works. There is no overarching theme, merely the sheer pleasure of eclecticism - much like an art lover's own art collection exalts his feelings and rouses a yearning to deepen his knowledge.
