English:Kunst in de Stad (Q169493)

The non-profit organisations Kunst in de Stad was established in 1972 by Pros Matthys, council member of culture for the city of Sint-Niklaas. He had the idea to buy artworks and place them on the city squares and in the streets. By now, more than 50 sculptures have been realised in the city, all by - or at least in collaboration with - Kunst in de Stad; the underlying vision remains, today as ever, to create artistically rich and socially appealing public spaces (museums, churches, and hospitals) by the introduction of valuable pieces of art.
