The lives of young artists and starting creative entrepreneurs cannot be underestimated. The road to recognition and success (and in the first place survival) is paved with a lot of red tape, scarce work space and few exhibition options. In order to alleviate the suffering of these disadvantaged minorities to some extent and to stimulate and support the artistic talent from Antwerp and its environs, Joesra Meeusen and Daniela Castro Ramirez founded the non-profit organization K (unstenaars) O (support) P (latform) in 2013.
It all started with the somewhat clandestine exhibition "The Nightwatch" in the Antwerp town hall. Gradually we found various accommodations in vacant buildings with KOP to further expand our operations. For example, we offered studio spaces in 't Pand in the Jan Van Gentstraat, we encouraged collaborations between artists from different disciplines in our artspace in the Grote Goddaard and we identified special places in Antwerp to organize exhibitions.
In 2016, we finally moved into a beautiful corner building on Amerikalei and renamed our new home the creative haven KOPLAND. Here at our current address, the artistic soil turns out to be extremely fertile and the inspiration flows together with the water from the tap. We bring our operations, artspace and coworking together under one roof and offer unique workspaces, information sessions, extraordinary expos and much more. Feel free to drop by with your idea or project: our door is always open (figuratively anyway).
