English:Aton'&Armide (Q498336)
Aton'&Armide was created in 2009 when pianist Sara Picavet and cellist Benjamin Glorieux decided to unify their desire to explore music from 20th and 21st century, together with creations from befriended composers, without any specific aim or goal other than to satisfy a simple curiosity.
Today, the duo has become an ensemble with variable geometry, and focuses on ... links. What's a link?
One of the explanations, in any regular dictionary, is the following: a thin wild bank of land splitting two cultivated patches. That's actually more or less what we try to do: we tend to walk a path which will be always new and that connects cultural aspects. That can be music, literature, a word, a painting, an idea, a composer and his inspiration, or anything else which makes us, Sara Picavet and Benjamin Glorieux, curious to explore. The musical starting point for this exploration has most often been a certain piece of music from the period 1945 up to today, but sometimes our programs embrace music from other cultural periods, as long as its connection with the other elements of the chain which makes up the program, is strong enough to make sense.
