The ABC House

The ABC House is an open, multifunctional building in the Brussels North Quarter designed for primary schools, groups, and families. Inside the house, you will find a cinema/theater room, various workshops, a child-friendly kitchen, a large studio space, and the ABC offices.

ABC: Mobile Studios

Anyone aged four and above can embark on a diverse, self-curated journey through the world of visual arts, technology, science, and philosophy at the ABC studios. The aim is to eventually explore their own creativity and imagination. The studios feature specially designed interactive workstations and installations equipped with selected books (in four languages), CD-ROMs, DVDs, videos, and theme packages.

ABC: Kamishibai

Kamishibai is a traditional Japanese storytelling format. 'Kami' means paper and 'shibai' means drama - hence, paper drama. It involves a small theater where large drawings (A3 size) fit into frames. Each sheet depicts a scene from the story. A storyteller shifts the drawings, creating a serene animation-like effect, while narrating the story written on the back. The kamishibai theater can also be mounted on the carrier of a bicycle.

Kamishibai is a unique and engaging way to explore language and promote reading in a playful manner. The magic of the small theater, the captivating world of stories, and especially the visual power of the drawings ensure a lot of language enjoyment.
