Els Dietvorst expresses herself through sculpture and installation art. But with her shifting focus to interpersonal relationships and communication, drawings and especially video became her primary medium. Her works took the form of long-term projects in which she worked directly with the social environment. Together with the residents of a specific neighborhood or area, she designed projects, following, experiencing, and recording their interactive processes. To this end, she founded the Firefly collective with Orla Barry.
