Mayday Mayday is a Belgian music festival held annually on May 1st in the city of Kortrijk. The event features a mix of music and fringe activities. The Mayday Mayday festival was established in 1992 when ABVV, Bond Moyson, and sp.a joined forces to create the non-profit organization Mayday Mayday vzw. Their aim was to revive the traditional May Day celebration, Labor Day, and involve a larger audience. Local celebrations and processions were replaced with a festival featuring a wide range of music genres and numerous fringe activities. This May 1st festival has since become a well-known event in West Flanders. Each year, approximately 5000 people attend this festival.
