As an international city company, it brings productions to the Royal Dutch Theater. From the 23-24 season, the artistic leadership of NTGent is in the hands of a trio: Barbara Raes, Yves Degryse and Melih Gençboyacı. They represent a multi-voiced, shared and caring leadership. The trio succeeds Milo Rau who was artistic director since 2018. Under Rau, participatory practices were mainly captured in a production logic through the so-called people's projects, where the director worked with a mixed cast of professional actors and non-professionals. Raes, Degryse and Gençboyaci, who will really get going in season 25-26, put a new approach at the forefront and want to “reclaim” the city as an important space of movement and playground alongside the theater/stage. Through an artistic lineage around care, rituals and digital technology, NTGent aims to bring together diverse creators, audiences, languages and bodies.
