Jong Gewei is a theater platform that focuses on developing the artistic potential of people 16 and older who do not find their way to the arts through the established paths. Through experimentation and research, participants work toward show moments in a safe environment. Jong Gewei wants to see the diversity of Ghent's streets on stage and give new voices opportunities to grow, especially if they are socially vulnerable voices. The basic operation of Jong Gewei is collective: on the basis of joint discussions, workshops, theater visits and under the guidance of professional creators, everyone seeks their own way. For those who want to advance professionally, individual development paths are considered. The organization of Jong Gewei itself is strongly bottom-up: it is the young people who help determine the themes and the approach.
