Culture and nature, present and past: human interventions from vanished cultures are absorbed by nature. The remnants from the rich history of this interaction between structures and the surrounding landscape tell a story of cultural and natural symbiosis, disruption, and adaptation, of human energy and primal natural force. Nature represents growth, dynamism, and changeability, rather than a fixed landscape.
The series Borderhouses presents desolate modernist homes as temple ruins from a more recent past. These peculiar constructions reflect how humanity shaped its environment during a specific time, yet due to the passage of time, they begin to take on different forms. The separation between present and past is not as obvious yet. The houses stand as silent witnesses from the 1960s to the 1980s. Signs of human presence are still detectable, raising questions about the tragedy of this place: a story that is slowly but surely fading away.
