Belgian artist Hugo Roelandt (Aalst 1950 – Antwerp 2015) was one of the pioneers of performance art in Belgium in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a true "artist's artist," operating outside the art market and attentive to society. By combining his vision of photography and performance art, he evolved into a personal blend of performance and installation art, for which he coined the label "post-performance." The charismatic and energetic Roelandt collaborated with numerous artists throughout his career.
