KAAP is a place where you not only meet each other, but also get to know new artists, collectives and performers. We do this through residencies, salons, try-outs, open studios, etc. We also take to the streets and bring music, words and performance to the residents of Bruges and Ostend.

KAAP vzw was created from a merger of the former arts centres Vrijstaat O. (Ostend) and De Werf (Bruges). Since 2017, we have been a single arts centre that is fortunate enough to work in two beautiful cities on music, performing arts, visual arts and literature. Both cities have their own dynamics, charm and assets.

KAAP reflects, produces and presents. With imagination and integrity, together with committed artists, we interweave art and society. We do this with different disciplines, from two cities, Bruges and Ostend.

KAAP strongly believes in the role of art as a catalyst for a diverse, inclusive society. KAAP thinks critically about art and society from the artistic vanguard. KAAP offers people perspectives to view and experience reality in a different way through art.
