From 2006 to 2011, he was a core member of OKNO, a collective exploring media, interactivity, and ecology. Collaborating with Guy Van Belle, Gert Aertsen, and AnneMarie Maes, he experimented with algorithms and networked artworks. Walking on Mai Mind was an early exploration of artificial intelligence. |
In 2011, he founded ATK! with Ofer Smilansky, a reaction against the dehumanized nature of electronic performance, they put themselves in the center of larger than life immersive environments, blending light, sound, and space. Their works transformed architecture into dynamic sensory experiences. |

OKNO organized a large number of events, ranging from exhibitions to workshops and collective creation. Main themes were connected artworks, interactivity, ecology, physical computing and electronic performance. As part of the many collectives harboured by OKNO, Isjtar participated in events such as dEAF07, Cynetart06, Sonambiente06, Upgrade! Chainreaction Skopje, ZKM Flying Circus, Time Inventors’ Kabinet. |

By 2016, he launched Blue Brute, inspired by the Bluebeard tale. It marked a shift from purely digitally inspired work toward reconnecting with art history, using live cinema techniques to suggest narratives with light, camera movement, and atmosphere. |
In 2011 he decided to dedicate himself fully to his artistic practice, focusing mainly on ATK!, a duo with Ofer Smilansky. |
Since 2019, he has been part of CREW, the pioneering VR and performance arts collective founded by Eric Joris, creating acclaimed XR performances like Delirious Departures and Anxious Arrivals. |
ATK! made site specific art, fusing light and sound in immersive performances and installations. Among the events were Lexus Hybrid Art Moscow, De Munt / La Monnaie and Biela Noc Bratislava. |

At the end of 2016 he left ATK! to research new forms of expression, using 3D graphics and game engines. The Blue Brute project was an inquiry into the realisation of live cinema, the manipulation of aspects of 3D cinema in an audiovisual performance. |
In 2019 Isjtar joined Eric Joris at CREW, an organization pioneering VR and experimental techniques in the performance arts. He has created several internationally acclaimed XR performances such as Delirious Departures and Anxious Arrivals, with presentations at SIGGRAPH, Festival d’Avignon and KIKK. |
As part of his artistic practice, Isjtar has developed exceptional skills in procedural 3d modeling, coding, audio synthesis and game engines. An expert in experimental media, he has taught workshops, given lectures and published several articles on the topic. Isjtar leads CREW’s R&D at a European level. |
